REAL PROPERTY LAW SECTION, GEORGIA BAR
LISTSERVE USER AGREEMENT
This listserve is provided to members of the Georgia Bar and the Real Property Law Section (RPLS) for the purpose of providing a forum to discuss legal issues relating to Georgia real property law transactions and litigation. You must be a member of the Georgia Bar and the RPLS to participate in this listserve.
By using the listserve to post messages or receive other users’ posted messages, you agree to abide by the terms of this user agreement, including the following rules:
1. Please restrict all posts to topics concerning real property law issues. This may include posts which are reasonably related to the practice of real property law. Occasional posts requesting referrals to non-real property lawyers is also permissible. However, questions regarding non-real property law issues are more suitable for other online forums and should not be posted on the listserve. Classified-type postings about personnel, office space, software and equipment are permissible, provided no user may regularly make such postings or post any such messages on behalf of others.
2. Please exercise normal, professional decorum when posting and responding to posts. We want to promote a respectful atmosphere where people are not afraid to ask questions, participate in the listserve, and support each other in the practice of real property law. It is up to the discretion of the listserve administrator to determine what constitutes inappropriate posting behavior. Please use common sense and be civil and professional with your posts and responses.
3. Please respect the privacy of fellow listserve users and others who are not users. Do not post personal information about anyone without their express consent (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc.)
4. Please refrain from the inappropriate use of profanity in subject lines or posted messages.
5. Please refrain from discussing religion, sexual preference, race, age, ethnicity, politics, or other topics which may tend to be offensive to the general usership of this listserve.
6. Listserve users are prohibited from posting any text or images, or links to the same, that are pornographic in nature, or which are otherwise offensive or can be construed as such.
7. Listserve users are prohibited from engaging in “spamming” or other commercial solicitation of any kind. Displays of the user’s business contact information, corporate logos and the like shall not constitute spamming or advertising, nor shall brief descriptions of the user’s practice area or expertise or links to the user’s website, provided they are displayed in traditional fashion as an email “signature” or the like. External links, including to a user’s “blog” or other websites, is permissible only to the extent the content of the same would otherwise be permissible if contained within a post.
8. Listserve users are prohibited from impersonating other individuals or falsely representing themselves or their identities on the listserve. Listserve users are further prohibited from deliberately or maliciously posting false or misleading information on the listserve.
9. Listserve users are prohibited from posting messages that violate federal, state or local laws, including but not limited to, anything that violates a copyright, trademark or trade secret, or is bound by a valid confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement. Each listserve user is solely responsible for observing all copyright laws when posting copyrighted material.
Enforcement and Disclaimers
RPLS reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend any user, at any time, and for any reason, including violation of the listserve rules. Being a dues-paying member of the Georgia Bar or RPLS does not entitle anyone to use this listserve, which is provided only to members who register for the same and abide by its rules. If your access to the listserve is terminated, temporarily or permanently, you are not entitled to any refund of dues or other fees paid to the Georgia Bar.
RPLS is a provider of an interactive computer service. Postings on the listserve are provided by other information content providers, namely, its users, and not by RPLS unless posted by the listserve administrator. RPLS is not the “publisher or speaker” of any posts in the discussion forums unless posted by the listserve administrator.
The discussions on this listserve do not constitute legal advice. By using this service, you agree that the Georgia Bar, the RPLS, and their directors, officers, employees and agents are not liable for any claim relating to the use of this service.
Any posts, replies or threads may be deleted or edited at any time at the discretion of the listserve administrator, without warning or explanation. There is no guarantee that any posts, replies or threads will be deleted or edited, even if they violate the rules of this listserve. This is a manual process, so RPLS may not remove or edit particular messages immediately, if ever. The volume of posts and replies does not allow for review of all posts, nor for action on all messages sent to us reporting posts that violate the rules of the listserve. However, please immediately report any violations of the listserve rules to the listserve administrator.
RPLS does not actively monitor the contents of all posted messages and is not responsible for any content or messages posted. RPLS does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and is not responsible for the contents of any text or message. The messages express the views of their authors, not necessarily the views of RPLS or any entity associated with RPLS.
This user agreement may be changed by RPLS at any time without notice.
